The Queen City Rainbow Band Jazz Ensemble presents a fun evening of hot jazz at Below Zero Lounge, Saturday February 2nd, from 7- 10 p.m. $5 donation is requested.

Enjoy the Jazz ensemble's toe-tapping big band standards, swing tunes, jazz ballads and jazzy pop tunes, sure to warm your heart on a cold winter's evening.

Hundreds of dollars of great raffle prizes will be awarded, too! Proceeds from this event support the year-round mission of the QCRB, bringing excitement, energy and music to our region's parades and events.

Cincy GLBT Center elects Board and Officers 2008

Cincinnati's GLBT Center saw five new members elected to the Board of the organization on Tuesday, December 18th. These were: Jessica Fogle, Joe Penno, Reuben Blair, John Baker and Michael Chanak. All terms are for two years.

The next evening, the newly elected Board appointed the officers for 2008: Joe Penno - President, Bill Abney - Vice President, Reuben Blair - Secretary and Bobby Miller - Treasurer.

Harold Keutzer will be unable to serve on the Board in any capacity during 2008 due to term limitations as outlined in the organizations by-laws. Information on the Center is always available on-line.

Cincinnati Pride Marshals June 15, 2008

Five individuals will lead the GLBT parade from Burnet Woods in Clifton to Hoffner Park in Northside on June 15, 2008.

Selected were: Rev. Paula Jackson (Church of Our Saviour), Phebe Beiser and Vic Ramstetter (Ohio Lesbian Archives), Worley Rodehaver (publisher) and Dr. Larry Wolf (publisher/activist).

Debbie Tripp Payne, long known for her work in the HIV/AIDS area was also selected. Due to her move to Florida and the anticipated birth of a grandchild at the time of event, she will not be able to attend.

Dr. Ronn Rucker and Marian Weage, the 2007 marshals, will also be on hand to honor the 2008 marshals.

Rainbow Cincinnati's 10th Anniversary!

Ten years ago today, Rainbow Cincinnati came out as Cincinnati's first and only local GLBT web site. The original post on that day included:

"Our intention is to make Rainbow Cincinnati an online clearinghouse for information and resources of interest to our community...Okay, we admit it. We don't have a complete picture of what Rainbow Cincinnati will become. We do hope that with your ideas and help, we can make it a major reference point for everyone in our community."

At the time I don't think I imagined that it would still be around ten years later.

Pride '07 Video (finally)

The Cincinnati Pride 2007 Video is finally posted. My apologies for the delay. Several problems here kept me from being able to spend time at the computer to get this finished.

Thanks to all 14 of you who sent in photos. This year's video uses over 200 of the almost 2000 photos that were submitted.

Community Pride Video Project

Thanks to everyone who has submitted photos so far for this year's Community Pride Video Project. I've been asked whether there's a deadline for submitting photos. Although I've already started trying to organize the photos I've already collected, I will not start putting the video together until about the 20th of June. So, consider that a "fuzzy" deadline.

ALSO, I'm trying to figure out what music to use this year. If you have any suggestions, please contact me! Do any of the local music organizations have an appropriate recording that we could use? That would be great!

Pride is Alive 2007 - June 9 & 10

As you prepare for Cincinnati's 2007 Pride celebration, keep up with the latest information at the PrideIsAlive web site.

The Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, June 9th and 10th at Hoffner Park in Northside. On Sunday, June 10th, the Rally and Parade begin in Clifton's Burnet Woods at 11am. The Rally preceeds the Parade which steps off promptly at 1pm and finishes at Hoffner Park.

Broadway Deconstructed!
This is a one time performance by the cast of Disney’s The Lion King and hosted by Pop Star Deborah Gibson. Broadway Deconstructed is an evening of Broadway show tunes, with a slight twist. The evening explores gender reversal and the universal nature of some of the American Musical Theatres most beautiful lyrics, crossing boundaries of sex, age, and race and celebrating our diversity.

Don’t miss your opportunity to see this one time event on April 30th. Showtime is 8:00pm at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. GLBT Film Festival OUTReels returns Sat June 16th to Cincinnati

OUTReels returns for a second year Saturday June 16th. The event venue is the Cincinnati Art Museum at 953 Eden Park Drive, films start at 12N with the last show ending at 10:30 pm. All details are available here! The Greater Cincinnati Gay & Lesbian Community Center is the project owner.

Tickets are $25 for a all day pass or $8 per show at the door. All day ticket passes are now available on line. Tickets also available at Pride Festival, June 9 and 10th, Hoffner Park, Northside. Visit us at the OUTReels booth.

The 2007 GLBT Cincinnati Pride Alive Committee named Marian Weage & Dr. Ronn Rucker as Parade Grand Marshals for Sunday June 10, 2007.

With Cincinnati’s annual GLBT pride parade only weeks away, two respected friends of the community are being honored as parade grand marshals: Marian Weage and Dr. Ronn Rucker. Both will be introduced at the Pep Rally at Burnet Woods that begins at 11 am on Sunday June 10th.

Join in at Music Hall at 8pm on Saturday, April 28, 2007, to celebrate diversity with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Hear our world-acclaimed orchestra with Music Director Paavo Järvi, and trumpet star Alison Balsom.

The program features works by Sibelius, Haydn, and Schumann, followed by a post-concert party for the GLBT community and friends in Corbett Tower with appetizers, fun fellowship, entertainment by pianist Patrick Hazelwood, prizes, and cash bar.
