Standup For Kids

standupforkids.gifRainbow Cincinnati received an email from Standup For Kids announcing that they are working on starting a program in Cincinnati. They are actively recruiting volunteers:

It is estimated that 20-40 percent of all homeless teens are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered.

STANDUP FOR KIDS is a national organization that has helped thousands of kids in 37 cities. Our launch date for Cincinnati is March 1, 2007. We need to get the word out that we are here. We are also looking for volunteers and partners.

The leadership roles that need immediate Directors are: Director of Volunteers, Director of Community Resource Development, Director of Program Support, Director of Fund Development, Director of Outreach, Assistants to any of the roles listed. We have a national support team that will outline and guide each director and provide them with training. Anyone interested in helping our organization can email me directly or fill out a volunteer application on our website.

Homelessness has risen 150% in the last 15 years right here in Cincinnati, 30% of the Homeless are children. We need to STANDUP and do something about it! We need your help.

We are having a Meeting Tuesday February 6 at 6:00pm at McFadden's 19 E 7th Street. This is an informational meeting for anyone considering being apart of STANDUP FOR KIDS-Cincinnati. We still need leadership roles and street outreach counselors. As well volunteers to help with fundraisers like Petal Power, SUFK Golf Tournament, and clothing/hygiene/food drives.
