THE EVENT

Unfortunately, the odds are good that we'll all be back next year for 12th annual AIDS Run/Walk. AIDS is still very much a reality in this country and in Cincinnati. And with no cure in sight, AVOC's mission is as important as ever. This year's AIDS Run/Walk is your chance to support those Cincinnatians who are struggling to live with AIDS. It's also your chance to have a great time. We've got pizza, beer, great music and fabulous prizes. Maybe that's why City Beat voted last year's event the Best Fundraiser and the Best Local Cause. Even if this isn't the last AIDS Run/Walk, it may be the best.

AIDS Run/Walk is an annual pledge walk and run sponsored by AIDS Volunteers of Cincinnati (AVOC), a not-for-profit, comprehensive resource center for people affected by HIV and AIDS.
Over the years this event has gained outstanding momentum through the generous contributions of corporations, community groups and individuals - but we have seen declines in the past two years due to overall complacency about AIDS. People are reading about advancements in treatments and interpreting that to mean the crisis is over. But the great news about treatment regimens is a double edged sword. AVOC's cost per client rises significantly as clients live longer. So, AVOC needs your support now more than ever.
The majority of the expenses are underwritten, which allows for almost 90 percent of the event proceeds to go directly to AVOC's services! Proceeds of AIDS Run/Walk Cincinnati support AVOC's HIV Prevention Education Programs and client services to HIV/AIDS infected individuals, their families, friends, and loved ones in the Greater Cincinnati Area.
