Join Us for AIDS Run/Walk 2000 5K Run & Post-Race Party/Saturday, September 23, 2000 10K Walk Sunday, September 24, 2000 http://www.avoc.org/aidsrunwalk00/ THE EVENT Unfortunately, the odds are good that we'll all be back next year for 12th annual AIDS Run/Walk. AIDS is still very much a reality in this country and in Cincinnati. And with no cure in sight, AVOC's mission is as important as ever. This year's AIDS Run/Walk is your chance to support those Cincinnatians who are struggling to live with AIDS. It's also your chance to have a great time. We've got pizza, beer, great music and fabulous prizes. Maybe that's why City Beat voted last year's event the Best Fundraiser and the Best Local Cause. Even if this isn't the last AIDS Run/Walk, it may be the best. AIDS Run/Walk is an annual pledge walk and run sponsored by
AIDS Volunteers of Cincinnati (AVOC), a not-for-profit, comprehensive
resource center for people affected by HIV and AIDS. THE RUN 5K Run Fees AVOC All proceeds benefit AVOC, and we encourage you to help us out even more by collecting pledges using the walk pledge form. THE POST-RUN PARTY Band Together Concert & Party Cincinnati's top alternative bands are joining in to support AVOC with a special Band Together concert. So, finish your run and join us for great music, LaRosa's pizza and Miller beer. All proceeds benefit AVOC so even if you don't run or walk, you can enjoy a great party and still make a difference. Band Together performers include, Soundmind, MFK (Formerly My Friend Kevin), Ben Walz, Tigerlillies, and Accumen. If you participate you'll also get the chance to win great prizes, including round-trip airfare, MAC Cosmetics and more. Admission is free for runners and walkers who register at the Party with at least $50 in pledges, and we'll get you started with tickets for free beer and pizza. THE WALK 10K Walk The "original" AIDS pledge walk features a scenic central Cincinnati route up Eggleston Avenue to Liberty Hill and winds down through historic Over-the-Rhine, the Cincinnati business district and across the Ohio River to Historic Newport. You'll cross back over the river via the L&N Bridge and finish at Yeatman's Cove. Before and after the walk, you can enjoy refreshments from Starbucks, Ameristop, Trauth Dairy and Alpine Valley Water. Your registration automatically enters you in random drawings for great prizes, including round-trip airfare, MAC cosmetics and more. Plus, if you get at least $50 in pledges, you receive free admission to the Band Together Concert and Party on Saturday night. Register on-line at http://www.avoc.org/aidsrunwalk00/ , or Call 421-2437 for details. THE AWARDS Thanks to our generous sponsors, we're pretty sure we have the best prizes in town. The top three overall run finishers in make and female categories AND the top three walkers who raise the most money will receive: 1st Place: A trip for two from United Airlines to any domestic United States destination, plus a membership to Revolution, a SPINNING(r) & Fitness Studio, and a special gift from MAC Cosmetics. 2nd & 3rd Place: A Cincinnati "Weekend-for-Two" package from Fifth Third Broadway Series.
