The Coalition

As most of you know, we had our first Coalition meeting on Sat. Aug. 4th. It was a very exciting meeting. There were 16 people in attendance. The groups represented were: Cincinnati Youth Group, The Gay and Lesbian Community Center, GABLE, GLBT News, GLSEN, PFLAG, Pink Paradigm, Rainbow Cincinnati, Stonewall Cincinnati, The Three Dollar Investment Club and "The Last Session" Project.
We began by introducing ourselves, the groups we represent and then talked about the upcoming events each of our organizations have planned. The majority of the meeting was spent discussing ideas for how the Coalition will function, the structure and intent of the group.
There were no decisions made this first meeting because it was held on a holiday. Many people had expressed interest who were unable to attend.
Our next meeting will be on Sat. October 2nd. This meeting will be held at 10:00am at St. Johns Unitarian Church. It is located at 320 Resor Ave. in Clifton.
As you know, we are asking that each organization have a representative and an alternate elected who have been given the authority to vote for the group. Anyone is welcome to attend but when making decisions, each group will only get one vote and only if represented. Please bring a calendar of events to share with the group and to ensure it gets included on the community calendars for the month.
This will be the last mailing regarding the Coalition. It is possible the meetings will change to another weekend of the month. If you are unable to have a representative for this next meeting but would like to be involved, you can find upcoming Coalition information in the GLBT News, on gaycincinnati.com, or by calling the Gay and Lesbian Community Center at 591-0200. We look forward to seeing you.
