- The Coalition plus a Town Meeting

Event 1 ---
The Board of The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati is inviting all GLBT and supportive organizations in the area to be involved with the redevelopment of The Coalition.
As many of you know, The Coalition was a body consisting of one representative from each interested organization which met monthly to exchange information. This was done so that all organizations in town were aware of the activities of other groups and to avoid conflicts in events. The Coalition was also responsible for the Pride Events each year.
We would like every organization to have at least one representative, who has been given the authority to vote for the group, designated to attend the meetings. Our first will be a planning meeting where the structure of The Coalition and meeting time will be decided.
This first meeting will take place Sat. September 4th at 10:00am. It will be held at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church at 103 W.H. Taft in Clifton.
Event II--
We also would like to invite you and your membership to a Town Meeting on Tue. August 10th at 7:00pm, also held at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church.
Linda Malicki, Executive Director of The Center in Cleveland has arranged a "Power Tour" and will be speaking at town meetings in each of the major Ohio cities that week. She will be accompanied by Carlie Steen of Promote The Vote, Jeff Redfield of Stonewall Columbus, and Donna Red Wing, of HRC. There will also be local leaders participating.
The meeting will focus on information about voter registration, lobby efforts for hate crimes legislation in Ohio, and helpful information about grassroots organizing efforts across the state and nation. They will also tell us about the Millennium March - a national march on Washington set for April 2000. This will be an excellent opportunity to let leaders of national GLBT organizations know what we need from them to help our efforts here at home.
